The Shanti Uganda Society

The Shanti Uganda​ Society is a Canadian Non-Profit that improves infant and maternal health, provides safe women-centered care and supports the well-being of birthing mothers and women living with HIV/AIDS in Uganda.  

Shanti Uganda’s Women’s Income Generating group employs 21  mothers and grandmothers from Luweero District whose lives have been impacted by HIV/Aids. They also receive skills training and business training they need to succeed. The Women work in an outdoor thatch covered building where they craft bags and home decor products from traditional East African fabrics, as well as beautiful jewelry from hand rolled paper beads.  They receive a regular, reliable income every month, and are paid above fair trade prices. The products are sold throughout North America with profits going directly to the women and the programs at Shanti Maternity and Learning Centre.

Sweet Peas kids krafts is about fun stuff for kids: -activity pillows- with Velcro, button-on items or finger puppets, super-hero capes (including personalized), aprons, Tutus, appliqued clothing and bibs (including custom orders), stuffed dolls and animals, bunting (Happy Birthday and/or personalized), and more.  Bears are made out of old wool sweaters, pigs are made from vintage chenille bedspreads, aprons are made from tea towels and all sewn items are done in bright cottons with whimsical designs.   All items that are appliqued are done by hand by me.

Inspired by the natural beauty of Tofino Canada's rugged coastline, Drifter Dan combines this love of nature with objects and wood salvaged from discarded fences and other found materials. Artistic frames, home decor and funky indoor/outdoor furniture are samples of Drifter Dan's creations. Some of Drifter Dan's frames also showcase original and prints of watercolour paintings by local artist Nathan Murray who's work is inspired by the landscapes of British Columbia.
